Obituary of Dwan Basdeka

Dwan Dunlap Peter Basdeka The Lord called Dwan home in the early hours of Thursday, December 18, 2014 at age 84. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Dimitrius (Jim) and Florence C. Basdeka, both deceased. Loving husband for 63 years to Marilyn. Devoted to cherished daughters Julie Lee Taylor and Alyssa Christina van Graft (Mark) and to granddaughter Melissa Lee Taylor and to grandson Peter Julien van Graft, cousin Beth Ann Bucher (Jerry) and cousin Peter Basdeka. Dwan had a long and successful career as an executive in the insurance and reinsurance industries. He was an international award winning fine arts photographer, an accomplished sailor and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was an honest, caring and generous person and will be missed enormously by family and friends. A private interment was held. Visitation will held be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at CALVIN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 26 Delisle Avenue, with a service of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
