Jean and I met as freshmen at the University of Manitoba, and quickly became best friends. We had lots of fun times, which I will never forget, and loved one another. She was the sister I never had. After graduation from the University of Manitoba, we went to the University of Toronto School of Social Work. After two years, I returned to Winnipeg and she stayed in Toronto, where we both worked with our local social welfare commissions. We kept in touch, and I had a phone call from her the week she died. She was a wonderful girl in every way, and I will miss her very much.
