Mother was known for her cooking, and food was always the centre of her life. dark whole rye bread that stuck to the ribs, with melted butter of course, raisin cinnamon bread, good brewed coffee which I started drinking at five years old. sewing, quilts, clothes of all kinds, crosstitch, crewel, and invisible darning of socks. gardening, and weeds didn't stand a chance on these large plots of land, a true green thumb, which could take dead plants, and bring them back to life. these talents came in handy when you are living a hard scrabble life with not much money, and some of us are still doing it. To balance this off, there were also some not so good talents, stubborness, which has been mentioned elsewhere, tact and diplomacy, which could make me cringe at times, or injustices. But our mother nontheless, like it or not.
