Obituary of B. Jane Eyton
B. Jane Eyton
Passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 29th, 2014, after a long illness, bravely borne, with her chief concern always being for all of us.
Beloved and spirited wife of the Honourable J. Trevor Eyton, OC. Dearly loved and loving mother of Debbie ( Paul Edmonds), Susie ( Greg Belton), Heather ( deceased 1962), Adam, Christopher and Sarah ( Jason Gould). Truly amazing and adored grandmother of Kate ( Robert Scobie), Trevor, John and Hayley Findlay; Scott, James and Victoria Belton; Lindsay and Nigel Eyton; and Bronwyn and Rory Gould.
Daughter of the late Dr. R.C. (Monty) and Margaret (Jackson) Montgomery, Jane is the dear sister of Dr. Don Montgomery (Molly, deceased 2014) and Mary de Haas (deceased 2012). She will also be missed by her cousins John and Bill Jackson (and their families), who recently flew to Janie's side from Great Britain to say their good byes. Cherished sister-in-law to Tony and June Eyton and Marion and the late Bill Hall, and remembered with great affection by her many nieces and nephews.
Born in Toronto on June 25, 1934, Jane and Trevor recently celebrated their 80th birthdays together. A 1955 alumna of the Nursing School at Toronto General Hospital, she supported Trevor as he completed his law degree and throughout his career and their busy lives together. An active volunteer, her many passions included serving as a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Toronto General Hospital and the Shaw Festival Foundation Board. She loved old movies with happy endings, red wine and popcorn, shopping, Caledon, Boca Raton and Kennisis Lake, and most especially her dogs (and there were many over the years ). "Sequins" had a great sense of style with both colour and sparkle playing prominent roles. Jane's energy and spirit were boundless. She loved people and nurtured friendships from all aspects of her life, always demonstrating generosity and kindness. Most of all Jane loved Trevor and their large, extended family. She gathered us together and taught us to celebrate all of life's occasions, big and small - a gift for which we will be eternally grateful.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014. A celebration to honour Jane's life will be held in ROSEDALE UNITED CHURCH, 159 Roxborough Drive, Toronto on Thursday, December 4th at 3 o'clock. Please wear bright colour or sequins in tribute to Jane.
