Obituary of Kitty Anna Griffiths

GRIFFITHS, Kitty Anna In the late evening of Friday, November 7, 2014, our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with her Lord. Born on July 6th, 1919 to Percy and Annie Coe, Kitty grew up in rural Suffolk, England. For nearly 71 years, she was the loving and cherished wife and soul mate of Gerald. Together they served in churches in Cardiff, Wales; London, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; Johannesburg, South Africa, and Toronto. Kitty was a dear and devoted mother to son Ian and his wife, Christine; daughter Myfanwy and her husband, Michael Bentley-Taylor; son Jonathan and his wife, Anne. Continually caring and encouraging grandmother to Jennifer, Fiona, Jonathan; Anna, David, Miriam, Elizabeth; Gerald, Joanna, Malcolm, and Christopher. Great-grandmother to 27 great-grandchildren. A school teacher by training, Kitty had a remarkable sphere of influence wherever she lived, including establishing a children's ward and soup kitchen in rural South Africa in the early 1960s. Since the early 1970s she has been known around the world as Mrs. G, through her radio ministry of Bible Stories Alive. To all who knew her she was gracious and kind, working tirelessly in what God had called her to do. Following a private family funeral service, a service of Thanksgiving for the life of this remarkable lady will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, November 15th in Calvary Church, 746 Pape Avenue, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, gifts to A Visit with Mrs G Ministries Inc (www.Biblestoriesalive.org) will specifically facilitate provision of Chinese translations of her Bible Stories Alive to the children of China.
