I had a special fondness for Bill. In addition to providing philatelic material in a gentlemanly manner, he was warm, patient, had interesting stories and was a model of professional friendliness. He helped me to sell aome material and made the experience "work". With all the twists that life brings I hope that it brought him the warmth that he generated.

Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We were both war evacuees. I arrived 1941 and was in the same year at Pickering (I am also 82). I can still see him in my mind, always well dressed, usually wore a tie (except when playing football) and I can hear his accented speech and heavy laugh The world has lost a great philatelist victor koby.

Hi Rose-Marie, I was very sorry to read about Bill's passing in the paper today. Since I cannot be in Toronto for the visitation on Thurwday evening, I thought I would send this email to let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts at this time. I do hope I'm not sending you two of these messages - I hit the backspace key accidentally and my first message disappeared; whether it was sent or deleted I don't know. Anyway, my best wishes and love, your tennis friend, Joan C.
