I feel honoured and so very happy to have had the opportunity to meet Peter my father in law truly made me feel like part of the family since day one. I feel very blessed as the last in law to the Brennan family that I had the opportunity to get to know Peter, laugh with Peter, and learn from Peter truly a great soul he is doing something special up there and I know he watching over the people he loved most his family and dear friends.

My favourite memory of Petey B. was really every time I got to see him and he gave me one of those fatherly hugs. He made me feel like I was so welcome, and part of the family, no questions asked. He was one of the warmest souls I have had to honour to come into contact with. But of course the way that he made me feel the most special was by calling me "Pita" (Pain in the***). Haha my apologies for those that are offended by that. But of all nicknames, it was said with so much love and affection, that it is by far my most favourite. Pete knew how to make everyone feel at home, at ease, loved, and seen. He was such a gift and such a light and by far one of the loveliest people I have had the opportunity to know. He is truly missed. He was like family to me. Celebrate the time you all had with him, because he sure was a man who knew how to do just that. What a beautiful family the Brennan's are. Love you all so much.

I was so sad to hear about Peter. It was at Finch P.S. that I first met him, when he became a Principal for the first time. I was his admin assistant in the office. He was such a fun person to work with and always so considerate of all. We had many a good laugh and shared the good and difficult times of a school office. I last saw Peter when he came to my retirement in 2003. It was such a nice thing that he took the time to come to wish me well.
My sincere condolences go out to you, Bonnie, and all the family and know that in time the good memories will outnumber these sad ones........he was one of the really good guys!

Classmate from 1956-1961 and friend . What fun we had. Like the passing of his Father ,Frank, Peter has left us far too early.Peter was a great help to our daughter with his encouragement and support as she was choosing her career as a teacher. We know that he had a real gift for educating and understanding the needs of youth. We only wish that there was more time to enjoy each others company. Never put off until tomorrow what you would like to do today to be with those great friends that you have been fortunate enough to connect with throughout life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family

Peter was an outstanding educator with a heart of gold. While we never had the pleasure of meeting, I wanted to express my condolences on the passing of this lovely man. To The Family Of Peter Brennan: Please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Peter. We shared adjoining offices at 5050 Yonge Street from 1980 until 1984. Peter was Unit Head (Chief Consultant) for Reading and I was responsible for Gifted and Talented Programs. We quickly formed a collegial and mutually satisfying relationship at work as well as a friendship. Peter was a fine, knowledgeable professional whose contributions to the North York Board of Education and the T.D.S.B. were legion. As a person, I found him to be intelligent, an excellent listener and a man who possessed a wonderful sense of humour. I spent many occasions enjoying his company a great deal. I will never forget him. Yours Sincerely, Barry Wilde (Stouffville) Retired T.D.S.B. Principal

Dearest Bonnie and family, Some things change in life, but some things never do. Peter remained the handsome, gregarious, warm and intelligent human being I remember from my 20s. With you, Bonnie, he raised 4 loving children and educated so many others who are making their mark in the world, like he did in education, like his father did before him. I cherish the happy memories (unbridled laughter), and am grateful our paths crossed early in life. My deepest sympathies to you all, Jackie

To the Brennan Family, I first met Peter when, as a program leader, he gave a presentation on learning to read to parents at Rockford Public School (circa 1983). I can still vividly recall how he had us reading gobbledygook and then answering questions. Over the years, Peter was always available to share what he knew about how students learn. I have fond memories of attending IDEA conferences, especially the evening's entertainment, when we presented skits poking fun at ourselves and the Board. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts. With deepest sympathy, Shelley Stillman, former Chair and Trustee Ward 9, North York Board of Education

When I spotted Mr. Brennan's name in the Star's obituaries, I thought back to my days at Northview in the late '60's when he led a speed reading class as an extracurricular activity. Teachers who gave their time to enhance a student's learning were an inspiration to me to share my talents with others as I walked Life's path. May his family derive comfort in knowing that he is fondly remembered by others. BonnieCase
