LONG CAMPBELL, Karen Gaye (1956-2008)
Karen passed away peacefully at home on May 29th, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Karen lived her life with creativity, joy, competence, and love. She will forever be remembered for her dedication to family, kindness and generosity, as well as her beautiful smile. Karen loved the outdoors and had a true gift for connecting with children. Karen was born on March 15th, 1956 in Winnipeg. She graduated from Dakota High School (1973) and the University of Manitoba (1977). In 1979 Karen moved to Toronto where she became a valued and respected actuary. Karen is survived by her beloved husband Scott, her loving children Alison and Douglas, her parents William and Margaret Long, and her brother Mitchell Long. She is also survived by Douglas and Mary Campbell, her father- and mother-in-law, two nieces, four nephews, six sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law. She is much loved and will truly be missed. A special thanks to Karen's healthcare team, especially for the gentle and compassionate care of Susan Hamilton. A memorial service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A. W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East) at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, June 3rd . A reception will follow the service.
