To the children of Betty Bent. Just wanted you to know that I met your mother last summer when my friend Christiane was doing chemo at NYGH. We were fortunate enough to spend a day with your mom in the chemo chair side by side. While that was the only time we met her there (the rest of our days did not coincide with hers) she made a lasting impression on us. Her spirit was so uplifting and gave us both the hope that we could have the strength of character that she obviously lived her life with. It is not often that you meet someone only once and remember the impact that she made just by friendly words of encouragement and lots of laughter for us as we all told stories to pass the time. When I saw the notice of her passing in the Globe and Mail I wanted you to know how she touched our lives in one brief encounter. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as we remember your incredible mom!

Dear Family, I sincerely hope you do not view this note as an invasion of privacy at such a sensitive time. I recognized your family name as one of old neighbours of my parents. I wondered if you or any member of your family are/were related to a Maxine Bent who lived at #16 Norwood Terr, in the Main and Gerrard area of East Toronto. I have some lovely old photos that I inherited from my Mum after her passing 10 years ago. I did not want to dispose of someone's memories. My parents were Rose and Bill Richards, 12 Norwood Terr, and my Mum was very fond of the family, as so often happens people move and they lose touch. I would love to be able to send these photos circa 1930's/1940's to the right family. Please feel free to contact me at my email address or call 905-579-1543. You are in my thoughts at this difficult time and again I apologize if this is viewed as an intrusion. Linda Richards Gower, I was born in 1948.
