Obituary of Florence Thom

THOM, Florence Lillian On Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the age of 97 years, Florence passed away at Toronto General Hospital after a brief illness. She died as she lived - with courage and determination. Wife of the late William George Thom (1967) and loving mother to Eveline and her late husband John Rushton. Florence was born in Toronto, and lived most of her life in Leaside (until 2004). She worked as a designer and seamstress, and perhaps her most hidden talent was her rose garden which was envied by many. Florence had three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her granddaughter Donna (Emory) and great-granddaughter Claire. Florence was lovingly cared for by staff at the Salvation Army Meighen Manor, who made an incredible difference in the last two years of her life. Cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held at a later date. If desired, donations to the Salvation Army, 2 Overlea Boulevard, Toronto, Ontario, M4H 1P4 would be most appreciated.
