We lost a beautiful, soft spoken but wize, gentle man and God gained another of His children, welcoming into His kingdom after "a job well done my good and faithful servant"
I was at the 10 am mass on Nov 2 waiting for Fr. Kelly to walk out onto the alter in his typical slow but sure footed swagger.
I felt uneasy when we were told that he was too ill to say mass. Not like Fr. Kelly to miss mass, must be serious. He had been looking rather pale and weak during the past few weeks.
Fr. Kelly will be deeply missed. I'm pleased to say that I recorded his homily on the feast of the Guardian Angels and will listen to it from time to time in his memory. I enjoyed our conversations about sports among other things. A well versed man. A privilege to have known you! See you again one day.

The man behind the collar - Lifes journey on earth has ended and eternal life begins I pray you have met God face to face. For you certainly were a very humble, sensitive man who walked in the words you spoke from the ambo. You are missed - "Say not in grief, he is no more - but live in thankfulness that he was." Hebrew Proverb (Norah)

Father Kelly was a wonderful priest. His homilies were thoughtful, wise and inspirational. He was a blessing to St. Monica's Church. He was a kind, caring soul. I was looking forward to his Christmas homily. Rest In Peace.

Fr. Kelly's weekday homilies were a treat. He wouldn't need or read any notes, he would just stand and deliver a meaningful message every time. He obviously knew the Scriptures extremely well and had enough insight and depth that he could just pull these amazing homilies together day in and day out. He was a treasure and a great loss for the Church and St. Monica's. My condolences to his family. We will miss him dearly.

"It doesn't matter whether we have four talents or only one, what matters is that we direct it towards the good of man." Thank you Father Kelly for this and the many other life lessons you imparted in your homilies. I will keep you in my prayers. Rest in peace.

Father Kelly was intelligent, kind and always humble. His gentle manner exemplified Christ’s teachings, and I truly believe he was a saint. He must now be in a very high place, not only resting, but rejoicing. He will be missed, but if anyone deserves everlasting happiness after a long, faithful journey, Father Kelly does. So in that sense I am happy for him, even though saddened by our loss at St. Monica’s parish.

Father Kelly was always a most considerate and loyal friend to Council 1388. St. Monica's is the parish in which our Council 1388 Chambers at 250 Davisville Avenue are located. Not only was Father Kelly a wonderful priest and friend to Council 1388, as Pastor of St. Monica's he was pastor of my mother-in-law's parish and much loved and respected by his parishioners. When my father-in-law died in 2006 Father Kelly was most kind and thoughtful in the way in which he conducted the funeral at St. Monica's and brought comfort to our family. May Father Kelly rest in peace.

I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with your brother when he was the priest for Father Francis Mahoney Catholic School in Oshawa. He really was a wonderful man and the Catholic church has certainly lost one of the good ones. I will keep him in my prayers.

"Here lies a good and faithful man" was written of St. Joseph. This was Fr. Joseph Kelly's most prized and preferred epitaph and can truly be applied to him. We are extremely grateful for the privilege to have had him as our "Good Shepherd" for so many years at St. Monica.
