Obituary of Shirley Wigmore

WIGMORE, Shirley June Daughter of the late Russell Boyce and Ada Sigsworth died peacefully at the age of 86 at Sunnybrook Hospital on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Shirley was born in Kingston, Ontario. Sister to Dorothy Cage and Ronald Boyce, both predeceased. It was in Peterborough that Shirley met William Brodie Wigmore of Toronto. Shirley went on to marry Bill in 1950 and assumed the responsibilities of an Anglican minister's wife while continuing to teach. Their marriage lasted 54 years until Bill's passing in 2004, and produced four children by birth and four children by marriage: Michael and Linda, Mark and Lorrie, Timothy and Jennifer and Elisabeth and Christopher - all whom she considered to be perfect. She earned a degree from University of Waterloo, and a Masters of Social Work from University of Toronto in 1985. Shirley worked at Sunnybrook Hospital in support of the Veterans from 1985 to 1990. Shirley felt rich in family and will be remembered most fondly by her children and their spouses and her incredible grandchildren Amy, Sara (Alex) and Paul; Phillip and Lee; Alexander, Daniel, Christopher and Benjamin; and Caleb and William; along with her Burmese cat, Brodie. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 12noon at St John's Convent, 233 Cummer Avenue. Visitation will be held from 10:30am until time of service.
