1916 - 2013
Peacefully after a short illness, in Toronto, on March 28, 2013, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her husband Angus G. McKay and her brother, George R. Allen. Survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Hill of Scarborough, Ontario. Helen was the only qualified woman teacher on the School Car (School on Wheels) in Northern Ontario and also taught in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. In Toronto she pursued a successful career as a travel consultant before retiring. Thanks go to the staff of Trilogy Long Term Care Residence for making her last years meaningful and comfortable and for their special support in her last days. A private interment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
