It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend. Mary Ivy Lois Rae passed away peacefully on March 25th, in her 101st year, at Sunnybrook Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years Robert John, and loving son Robert Junior. She will be greatly missed by daughters Lois Catalano (Bill), Patricia Rowney (Paul), daughter-in-law Jeannett; grandchildren Cathy McPherson (Bob), Bob Rae (Sharon) David Cunningham (Holly), Susan Dorfman (Marc), Bill Rae (Trish), Stephen Cunningham (Karen) and Laura Catalano; great- grandchildren David, Caitlin, Lauren, Sydney, Olivia, Emmalene, Claire, Phoebe, Ethan, Lucy; great- great- grandchild Devlin and the many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whom she welcomed into her home and heart. The family is grateful to those who have been friends to and support for Mary over the years: Dr. Lhotsky and all at Anne Johnson Health Centre, the staff at CCAC and SRT and in particular Esther Marshall. Thank you to the emergency and nursing staff at Sunnybrook Hospital, and to Dr. Wong and his team for their kindness and care. Visitation at Murray Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Road, Friday, March 29, 2 - 5pm; Funeral service will be held at Newbigging's on Saturday, March 30 at 11 am, with visitation one hour prior to service and reception there following. In lieu of flowers, donations to the War Amps would be appreciated. Mary was a remarkable woman. An avid reader, card player, monarchist, and lifelong Leafs fan, Mary will also be remembered for her strong opinions, her love of family and her interest in the lives of the many people she met throughout her long life. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
