JAMES "JIMMY" DAMER

Veteran of Second World War, 12th Field Regiment (RCA) Passed away in his 94th year on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in Edinburgh on January 12, 1920, the son of the late Timothy and Isabella Damer, James came to Canada at age 5. After serving his country, James dedicated his working life to young people as the Assistant Superintendent at Toronto's York Detention Centre for Youth. Predeceased by his beloved wife of many years, Mary (nee Toal). Devoted brother to Mary Risk and brother-in-law to Marjorie Damer, Patrick Toal and Frank Toal. Predeceased by his brothers: George, John, Andrew, Timothy and his sister Agnes. Dearly beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his lifelong friend Agnes Samler, the Devine family and many friends. Visitation on Thursday, March 21st from 7-9 p.m. at Murray Newbigging Funeral Home at 733 Mt. Pleasant Rd., just south of Eglinton on the east side. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located on the north side of St. Clair Ave., one block west of Mt. Pleasant Rd.
