Obituary of Henry Lang
LANG, Henry McAlister, Q.C.
Born May 19, 1923 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, died peacefully Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Belmont House, Toronto. Survived by his children Michael Lang (Patty), Susan Lang (Patrick LeSage), and Sheila Lang Radford (Michael Radford) as well as by grandchildren James Lang, Jeffrey and Andrew Lang-Weir, David, Matthew and Ben Radford and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Helen (2011), son Peter (2002) and Peter's wife Gloria (2003) and by siblings Margaret Scott, Jim Lang, Mona Martin, Paul Lang and their spouses. Henry flew Dakotas (DC3) in the R.C.A.F. in WWII. Henry and Helen (Royal Corps of Signals) married in Bath, England on January 28, 1946. They returned to Ontario where Henry graduated Osgoode Hall Law School in 1950. After two years of practice with McMillan Binch in Toronto, and the death of his father, the family returned to Henry's beloved Sault Ste Marie to care for his widowed mother and to practise law. For 52 years, he vigorously and enthusiastically practised, as well as served his community in many capacities, both elected and appointed. He balanced his love of law with his dedication to family, church, travel, 'camp', and sailing. The family is grateful to the wonderful staff at Belmont House. Particular thanks to Alma Ablona for her compassionate care of both Henry and Helen. Also to Vima Rosette. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Toronto, on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. At a later date, a memorial mass will be held in PRECIOUS BLOOD CATHEDRAL, Sault Ste Marie, followed by interment in the Lang plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or Belmont House Foundation, 55 Belmont St., Toronto, ON., M5R 1R1.
