Obituary of Margaret Sinclair

| DR. MARGARET PATRICIA SINCLAIR (nee POCOCK) B.A. M.A. Ph.D. February 21, 1950 - February 21, 2012 It is with profound sadness that her family announce Margaret's peaceful passing, at home, on her 62nd birthday, after a courageous battle with cancer. Marg was surrounded by her loving husband and best friend of 43 years, Larry, and their five children Jennifer (Dave Murphy), Doug (Dawn), Frank (Meagan), Brian and Carolyn (Brian Norris). She will be forever in the hearts of her grandchildren Jacob, Des, Max and Ben, her father Joseph Pocock, and her siblings Mary Stevenson (David), Patsy Samson (Gerry), Joanne Mills (Geoff), Frances James (Bill), Bill Pocock (Colleen) and Teresa Pocock. She will be greatly missed by her 28 nieces and nephews. For 15 years, Marg was a teacher and vice principal with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. After raising 5 children she decided to pursue her Doctorate in math education at O.I.S.E. After 6 difficult years at the age of 50 she succeeded, as she did with everything else in her life. Dr. Margaret Sinclair was immediately hired by York University as a Professor in the Math Education Department. Her drive was mathematics, but her passion was teaching, researching and publishing. She balanced her life as wife, mother, student and teacher with precision. Her energy was extraordinary. Her enthusiasm for life and her motto "Seize Every Day" is an example for all who knew and loved her. The void of her passing will be deeply felt by her family, friends, colleagues and students. Marg, you will be forever celebrated, remembered and greatly missed. Visitation will take place at the Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Rd., on Thursday, February 23, 2012 7-9 p.m., and on Friday, February 24, 2012, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anselm's Church, 1 MacNaughton Rd., on Saturday, February 25th at 11:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. If so desired, donations in honour of Margaret may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
