Obituary of Rowena Grant
Peacefully on Friday, October 14th at the Sunnybrook Hospital K Wing in her 97th year. Predeceased by sisters Leah, Elva, Iva, Susan, Bessie and brothers Walter and Sherdan. Lovingly remembered by her 100 year old sister, Mary, many nieces and nephews and friends at Sunnybrook. A veteran of WWII, Rowena served as a night vision instructor and mentality test marker. A Federation of Ontario naturalist member, Rowena used her garden and "field trips" for inspiration throughout her life. Rowena loved colour. In early childhood, she developed a strong sense of colour which has been reflected in her life ever since. She loved to surround herself with beautiful colours. Rowena loved to wear something colourful and her home always had colourful pictures and décor. She was an accomplished artist, had a beautiful collection of pressed flowers, painted scarves, crafts and created images of nature; all celebrating the colour in life which she so enjoyed. Rowena travelled the ten provinces, three territories and several states. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Sunnybrook for their care and kindness. Arrangements under the direction of HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, Toronto 1-800-616-3311.
