Obituary of Catherine Stoll

STOLL, Catherine Lawson It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our irreplaceable mother, grandmother and friend, Catherine Lawson Stoll on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the age of 87. Catherine leaves behind her most ardent admirer, her devoted and loving daughter, Kim Elaine, and her forever appreciative granddaughters, Laura Elaine (Matt) and (her bairn) Victoria Catherine, both of whom she co-parented, and an extended German family. She is predeceased by her darling husband of 44 years, Helmut; her cherished son, Drew, and his wife, Donna; her sister, Margaret, her brother Jack and sister-in-law Davina, as well as her treasured son-in-law, Norman White, all of whom are still sorely missed. She was born in Dundee, Scotland and her working life included many happy years and lifelong friends at Texaco Canada, later Esso. She was our foundation, strength and a tremendous support, never shying away from a challenge and never daunted by the odds. Her last challenges were met with positivity as always and in keeping with her indomitable spirit. She loved animals, especially her many pets. She was a committed environmentalist, avid gardener and traveler right to the end. She loved good food and great television including Breaking Bad and, her favourite, Game of Thrones. She was generous to a fault and gave all of herself each and every day. She was everything a mother and grandmother should or could be and an even better friend to all of us. We also wish to recognize the superb care and sensitivity provided by all of the doctors and nurses in CCU and in D4 ICU at Sunnybrook Hospital with special appreciation to nurses Kristen and Matthew for their tender handling of her final hours and our grief. She was, in the end, gifted with the blessing of dying in her sleep surrounded by those who loved her. Much love to Jodi Coates for her steadfast friendship throughout, which will never be forgotten. A celebration and service to honour our Kat will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 a.m. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations to her favoured animal charity, "Thomas the Silver Tabby" (please make cheques payable to Lawrence Gagnon), 63 Empey Road, RR 1, Eldorado, ON, K0K 1Y0 would be appreciated. Private interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a future date. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
