Hi Al, Heather told me about Fran. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I hope you are surrounded by the love and support of friends and family and are able to find frequent moments of comfort and respite from grief. I fear I have nothing to offer you, save words of love and condolence, but should there be some way that I can help from the other side of the country, I am at your disposal. Please take care of yourself. Much love, Rowan

I just checked the emails last night, and found yours from last week. Sue and I send our condolences. Although we knew her state, it is as hard to deal with as it would be if it were more sudden. I knew Fran for over thirty-five years, and she never ceased to surprise me: a woman whose heart was great, for whom feelings might rule, but who had a mind that rewarded engagement, someone who loved the insight that comes through knowledge as well as that which comes via the heart. As I knew her, she was loving without demand, supportive without insisting on a return, and understanding but not judgmental. We are poorer for having lost her, but we are all richer for having known her. With our love, Daniel

Allen, our sincere condolences to you and your family. It is so very difficult to lose a loved one, especially one so special as Fran. She gave of herself completely to anything she undertook. Fran was a great lady and one we are so glad we knew, albeit, for a short time. She will be missed! Our memories of her helping the Needlework Guild of Canada, Toronto Branch will always be with us. Memories can be held close to all our hearts.

Never the Spirit was born, the Spirit will cease to be never;
Never was time it was not, end and beginning are dreams;
Birthless and deathless and changeless remaineth the Spirit forever;
Death hath not touched it at all, dead though the house of it seems.

Francine was such a positive influence and very helpful to myself and to many others. Fran was passionate about educating about the dangers in our food, chemicals,toxins etc. and the Women's Healthy Environment was a wonderful part of her life. I loved our time in the WHEN book club which Fran was leading as we had great discussions and many laughs. Fran always had a wonderful smile for everyone and tons of energy. I know Fran is at peace now and will be with us in spirit as we celebrate her life. I expect her spirit to come back in life again and continue to do even more great work in the future for humanity. We will miss her.

Dear Fran,
I, along with many others, will miss you.
You were a true crusader for our environment. You made our WHEN bookclub on the environment a pleasurable and very informative experience.
Not only that, but we all became good friends there, as well!
I will keep you in my prayers.
Love and blessings,
Zorana

Thank you, dear Fran, for having been a devoted activist in WHEN and my peer environmentalist fighting for the prevention of cancer. Unfortunately that merciless, preventable disease has taken your life, but your candle will be an inspiring flame for the rest of us who remain.
May you rest in eternal peace.

Francine was a great friend in my last two years at St Pius X HS in Montreal. Her premature and unexpected departure leaves a void in the brain and heart, notwithstanding that we had not met in 50 years following our graduation in 1963. Following HS, our paths went separately and we lost contact until we met up 50 years later - in March 2013 at a small coffee shop in Toronto. I'm glad that we met and shared photos of families, travels and experiences. She was especially proud of her boys and Allen, and we had agreed that we would meet again with families…
Remembering Francine as she was in high school, then meeting her 50 years later and now reading about her life, I am humbled by her accomplishments and deeply saddened that I cannot attend the services to pay respect to a close friend. My sincerest condolences to Allen and the boys, and family.

Hello Allen, I'm so very sorry for your loss. We didn't meet, but from the affectionate way Fran spoke about you, I felt the love and the tender caring way that you were looking after her. As a yoga teacher, I was trying to help her cope with her anxiety and difficulty breathing. I wish I could have done more. We only met a few times but from those short sessions I got a sense of what a dear, sweet and courageous woman she was. I know that Fran was very spiritual, so I want to share a page from "Emmanuel's Book", from the chapter on death, which has helped me many times in coming to terms with it. Life and death should not be considered as opposites. It is closer to the truth to speak of dying as an entrance rather than an exit. What the doorway of death offers is a resurgence of tremendous vitality, for you are entering from what could be described as a watered down version of life into the thing itself, the vitality of the primary reality. If death could be seen as a beautiful clear lake, refreshing and buoyant, then when a consciousness moves towards it's exit from a body, there would be that delightful plunge and it would simply swim away. I wish you strength and lots of support in the weeks and months to come, Kirsten
