I knew Jillian for as long I have been teaching. I took over her class...way back in the day and begun my journey as a Montessori teacher. Fast forward to a beautiful woman and an equally beautiful little girl showing up at my classroom door, eager to begin their journey in my class. I was lucky enough to have spent time with Georgia..everyday...for 3 years. Her smile, sparkling eyes and warmth was embraced by everyone around her. My heart aches for her family... One can only smile when they think of Georgia, that's certainly what I did when I saw her everyday at school. She always came out of the classroom to say hi and check out what was going on in the hallway at pick up time. I remember Georgia as a toddler at a mutual friend's house. She was the most adorable, sweet and precocious little girl. Jillian was following Georgia everywhere she went, watching every move Georgia made, to make sure she was not going to hurt herself, as Georgia had just started walking. I will always remember Georgia and Tristan playng in Tristan's backyard. As 5 yr old boys do, Tristan stripped off his pants and peed in the garden. Not to be outdone, Georgia did the same thing. When I was 11 years old, in 1972, my 8 year old brother died suddenly. His death remains, to this day, the most tragic, painful thing I have ever experienced. Whenever I hear of a family who has lost their child, I can barely think about it. When I saw Georgia's picture in the paper, it was hard to look at, as I am so familiar with the pain of grieving. I am so sorry for what you are going through. My parents suffered greatly, as did all of their children. While the passage of time does not "heal" the wound, it does make it more bearable. Life will never be the same, but you will feel happy again as time passes. I know the messages we received as a family at the time did help, at least a little. I hope this message does that for you.
