Obituary of Irene Howard

HOWARD, Irene Ruth (nee Hogan) - December 10, 1929 - June 29, 2014 After a long and brave battle with COPD, Irene passed away at North York General Hospital. Loving wife of the late Beverley James Howard. Dearly missed by daughters Brenda Howard, Sandy Mitchell (Peter) and Tracy Howard (Frank Scardino). Nannie to Lauri Mitchell and Kiley Contois (Christopher). Great grandmother to Connor Mitchell. Irene was one of nine children and is survived by sisters Marion Boyd and Patricia Hogan and many nieces and nephews. A longtime volunteer of North York General, Irene was passionate about family, friends, knitting, cards, slots, spelling and a good martini. We are grateful to Irene's dedicated caregivers over the years. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 4, 2014. A remembrance service will follow at 11 o'clock in the chapel.
