Obituary of John William Boynton
John William BOYNTON
John William Boynton passed away peacefully at home in his sleep at the age of 81. Born in Toronto, March 26, 1933. Predeceased by his father, Herb Boynton and mother, Eileen (nee Lutton) Boynton. John is survived by his former wife, Marilyn Boynton (nee Irwin), and their three children, Chris (Kate), John (Jennifer) and Mary (Bruce). John also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, Kyle, Samantha, Jack B. and twins, Jack K. and Liam. John attended Upper Canada College before joining the family business as co-owner and operator for 40 years. An avid cottager, John spent his summers as a youth and later with his young family at Stoney Lake in the Kawarthas. He later moved to his beloved Georgian Bay where he honed his extensive handyman skills and resourcefulness. John was at his best at the cottage, surrounded by friends and family. He was reliably quick with a joke or a story and always made guests feel at home. His positive attitude remained bright right to the end despite the chronic pain he was living with. A service in his loving memory will be held in the chapel at the Humphrey Funeral Home of A.W. Miles located at 1403 Bayview Ave. in Toronto on Monday, May 12th at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers and keeping with his love of Georgian Bay, we ask that a donation be made in his name to either the "Georgian Bay Land Trust", a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the lands of the world's largest freshwater Archipelago. www.gblt.org or to the Wildlife Preservation Canada Organization whose mission is to save animal species at risk from extinction in Canada. www.wildlifepreservation.ca.
