Please allow me to extend my deepest sympathy to the all the members of the Keenan family and especially to Gwen. For a brief time, many years ago, I was Gwen’s junior colleague at London Life in Toronto. It was with regret that I read of the passing of Mr. Keenan. From all accounts, he led a remarkable life. Barbara Jo and I were greatly saddened to learn of Pat's passing. It was a joy to meet and work with Pat through London Life and to admire his many principled ways of dealing with business matters. Patrick, we hardly knew ye: now, alas, upon facing finally the melancholy task of reading Pat’s obituary, we learn truly what a gentle giant among men has lived in our midst. My wife and I have had the pleasure –- and now we more fully realize -- also the honor to be among Patrick’s handful of neighbors here in Gulf Stream, Florida, where he and Barbara have ‘stayed warm’ in the winters, simultaneously bringing their own special warmth down with them, more than enough to share. His and Barbara’s St. Patrick Day Parties were an unmitigated joy (and we were ‘lucky’ they fell during our part of ‘the season!’). No one can replace the soft spoken, gently smiling, always upbeat and positive fellow (who somehow managed also to discuss more serious matters in the same genial way). It is a gift to all who encountered him, one that remains with each recipient, for while he is now suddenly no longer among us, his gifts are lasting, figuratively -- and now I also recognize upon contemplating his and Barbara’s generosity together -- also literally. Jennifer, myself, Megan and most certainly, Luigi who 'looked up to him' so, will miss him greatly and are already lamenting how little time we shared together. Please accept our condolences.
