Obituary of Edward Crawford

Edward Hamon CrawfordPassed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health on Thursday, May 1, 2014. A devoted husband, father and grandfather. Predeceased by his wife Barbara Mary Crawford. He will be greatly missed by his son Doug (Luci), grandson Andrew and son Rob (Charlene). Dear friend of Jane MacDonald. Born on August 14, 1925 in Truro, Nova Scotia, early childhood in Havana, Cuba. Trained to be a navigator in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the end of WWII. He went to school at St. Andrew's College and Trinity College at the University of Toronto. He had a long and successful career with The Canada Life Assurance Company where he was President and Chief Executive Officer. He was on the Board of Directors of CIBC, Gulf Canada, Moore Corporation and The Hospital for Sick Children among others. Ed loved spending time with his family, enjoyed summers at Southampton, Christmas, gardening, photography and taking the family on road trips. A great storyteller, he was a voracious reader and World War history buff. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4th. A private funeral will be held at GRACE CHURCH-ON-THE-HILL.
