Obituary of Vincent O'Reilly

VINCE O'REILLY July 6, 1949 - April 17, 2014 You'll Never Walk Alone Born in Co. Mayo, Ireland, Vince was the beloved husband of Finola, the proud and loving father of Mark & Ryan, and the cherished brother of Maureen, Patrick, Pauline & Peter. A true Irishman, his profound generosity & affection for his family and friends was only matched by his loyalty to his principles (and Liverpool). Having grown up in Dublin, Vince has always maintained a deep love for the Emerald Isle. Even after immigrating to Canada in 1972, Vince immersed himself in the Irish community in Toronto. He was a founding member of the Ireland Canada Chamber of Commerce & the Toronto St. Patrick's Day Parade, and served on the board of the Ireland Park Foundation and the Ireland Fund of Canada. In his younger days, he was a standout goalkeeper for the Shamrock Rovers in Ireland and the Toronto Emeralds Soccer Club after he came to Canada, as well as making appearances for the Ontario and Canadian teams along the way. He went on to establish a successful professional career in the financial services industry, becoming Vice-President of Lyon & Butler Insurance Brokers. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23. A Funeral Mass will be held in ST. PAUL'S BASILICA, 83 Power Street, on Thursday, April 24 at 10 o'clock. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Vince's memory can be made to the Ireland Park Foundation or the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
