My name is Danny Graves and my mothers name was Elizabeth Graves. And I am hoping that I am leaving this memory/condolence to the correct doctor Douglas puffer? If so I have such fond memories of seeing Dr. puffer when he had his office on Lawrence Avenue east of Avenue Road Toronto. I love that man is my doctor and so did my mother Elizabeth. Such fond fond memories of Dr. puffer. Even before he retired I missed him greatly when I didn’t get the chance to see him in his office. And condolences to his family and or children.

Dr. Puffer was our family doctor from just after I was born 50 years ago until he retired. He delivered my younger sister. My mother referred to him from time to time and never really accepted that she had to see someone else when he retired. My mother and younger sister both passed away from cancer about 5 years ago within a few months of each other. I know that my mother wished it was still Dr. Puffer tending to her in her final days. Rest in peace Dr. Puffer. You were a very important part of my family's past.

Dear Puffer Family - I hope I am not intruding by sharing with you my memory of Dr. Puffer, who was kind and gentle with me at a very important time of my life - the birth of my one and only child, my daughter. My own family doctor, also a longtime friend, had gone away for a week, and suddenly I was in labour. I spoke with Dr. Puffer by phone and met him only in North york General Hospital, late in the evening of April 5, 1975. A first time mother, I was quite nervous, but it became clear very quickly that I was in good and capable hands with Dr. Puffer, who brought my daughter Lisa into the world early in the morning of April 6th. I am forever grateful for and will never forget his patience and caring, and understand this must be a huge loss for your family. Please accept my condolences, Sincerely, Frances Bleviss

Doug was the best of what have become the old-fashioned doctors, the ones who would take the time to make you feel relaxed by spending time just talking to you about anything but what you were there for. Doug never made you feel he was ever in any rush. By the time he got around to whatever issue brought you into his office you were completely relaxed. My favourite memory is visiting him because of intense, debilitating back spasms that would not go away, not, that is, until I entered his office and sat down to wait for my appointment. From that moment on I never had another spasm.

Dear Fran and Family, It is with sadness that I learned of Doug's recent passing. Please accept my condolences, and also those of my sisters Jan McCrae and Joan Lozinski, who met Doug at the island party this summer. Although we did not know Doug well, we still felt that we were friends. He had a way of welcoming you into a conversation that made you feel like you were a longtime acquaintance. My late husband Joe Curtin, when discussing the early days at the lake, would remark on Doug speeding around Lake Kashagawigamog on his sea flea! What a sight that would have been! Our thoughts are with all of you at this sad time. Currently I am visiting in Florida and do not return home until February 8 so I will be unable to attend the funeral. Fran and Judy, I will be in touch with you when I return. Best regards, Mary McCrae
