Barry, my sister, Jane, in Ottawa just emailed today that Mother (Wilma Francis) was saddened to see Shannon's obituary recently in the Globe and Mail. Sincere condolences on your tremendous loss. Shannon and the other social workers at the Family Service Center (early 1970's) guided my decision to pursue a Master's in Social Work which led to my subsequent 33 year career at United Way (here in Texas). And my family loved getting to know you both at Chaffey's Locks. Love, Pat

Shannon was a significant contributor to the Anglican Diocese of Toronto. For many years she volunteered her tremendous talent in the area of professional standards and addressing misconduct in the Anglican Church, in the Diocese of Toronto. Her experience from Social Work gave her a wealth of expertise to draw on and assist us with our policies and procedures. She advocated and arranged training for our team and always promoted a high standard of practice for all area's of our work. She equipped the church to deal with these matters in a professional and thorough manner. My respect for Shannon will last, as will my memory of her. While we are sad she has died, we are grateful for her life and her significant contribution. May she rest in peace.

Shannon and Barry are our Canadian family. They built their cottage at Chaffeys Locks the year after my family did, in 1967. I've known them since I was 12 years old. Life will never be the same there without Shannon's presence. I'll think of her when the birds sing and the loons call. She was one of the most amazing woman I ever met. Someday we'll meet again.
Barry, we'll find you wherever you live, you can guarantee! Love , Cindy

Barry: Cal and I are so sorry for your loss. Shannon was a beautiful woman whose smile would light up a room. When we think about the great times at Chaffey's Lock, we always drift to you and Shannon sitting on the dock, waving at our crazy family on sunny Saturday afternoons and lending us your sunfish sailboat when the weather was just too perfect. She inspired us to name our own daughter 'Shannon' and happily, she personifies the best qualities of her namesake. Our entire family mourns with you,.. Christy, Shannon, Travis, and of course Susie, John and Hugh. With love, Rob and Cal

Shannon was a member of the Board Of Directors for LOFT Community Services in the 1990's and made significant contributions to the development of its professional practices, human resource structures and its vision. She helped LOFT take major steps forward in becoming a leader in providing community mental health/addictions services for some of the most needy in our community. We remember her great spirit, skill and generous contributions of her time.
