Obituary of Richard Parton
Parton, Richard Joseph
November 17, 1940 - March 18, 2014
We announce, with great sadness, the passing of Richard (Rick) Joseph Parton (CPA), who left us unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Loving and beloved father of Elizabeth (Beth), Doris and Patricia (Patti), who were at his side throughout his last days. Older brother of James (Jim) Parton, District Chief, Communications, TFS (Retired), brother-in-law of Nancy (nee Kirkpatrick) Parton, and uncle of Colleen Parton-Marquand and Jennifer Parton-Bullock. Predeceased by his devoted wife Betty (nee Roulston) and his parents, Alwin George and Daisy Anne (nee Harris) Parton. Rick was active as a volunteer with Better Living - Thompson House and the Don Mills Seniors Foundation, where he worked with the marginalized among us for many years through the Out of the Cold Program, while tirelessly helping to improve the standards of care and interaction in the community. As an advocate for social justice and inclusion, Rick was an inspiration to all who knew him and his community will feel his loss deeply. Rick was an exemplar of loving kindness who set a standard of behavior, education and involvement that we all strive to meet. He will be missed as we carry on, proudly working toward the goals and values he instilled in us all. We remain filled with love and pride at the number of people Rick positively impacted in his time among us and will hold fast to the memories and experiences he brought to our lives, individually and collectively. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) for a celebration of Rick's life, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014. After the brief service we welcome you to join us in the Rosedale Room upstairs for some refreshments. If desired, donations may be made to Better Living at Thompson House http://www.betterlivinghealth.org/content/better-livingthompson-house or to Doctor Gideon Cohen to further his work in the field of cardiac health and surgery, http://my.clevelandclinic.org/canada/staff/gideoncohen.aspx.
