To Ruth, Suzy and Dave, and to all the extended family, both physical and spiritual—we only wish we could be there personally to convey our personal sorrow and share in yours today. Ruth, your husband, and Suzy and Dave, your father was not just a good man, but the rare occurrence of a truly great man on the earth. We do not say that lightly. We have known very few like him. We loved him, respected him, marveled at him and his amazing gifts of leadership, service, and generosity—which he used continually to help both his Lord, his church and his friends; we feared for him at times given how hard he would work, laughed with him (for smiles were never far from his face and he had a marvelous sense of humour), and we missed him terribly when we moved from Toronto. In short, Shelly Street was a pastor’s (and a pastor’s wife’s) best friend. As a pastor, few are those people who, when you really need something done—no matter what the size of the project, will show up at your door ready to work before you even call them. Shelly was not only ready to pitch in himself, but also ready and able to take responsibility for a massive project, organize and help a large group of people to accomplish a great task, work tirelessly until it was done and you would always know that it would be done right. How many people are there like that? Too few. But it wasn’t just pastors. If Shelly were your friend, there literally was nothing he would not do for you, often to his own hurt. I’m sure many of those stories will be told during this service and around it. God has given us the privilege here at the Seminary of teaching the next generation of servants who will help lead His flocks in the years ahead. We pray that each one of them has the privilege of working beside a “Shelly Street” in their church, for, having had that privilege ourselves, we count it as one of the greatest gifts God has ever given to us. With Deepest Sympathy and Love Ken and Diane Quick

"There is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel!" Only happy and fond memories flood our hearts as we think of Shelly and rejoice that he is Home with the One he loved and served and so often encouraged and helped us along the way in our service for Him. Our hearts are wrenched as we think of his beloved bride, Ruth, and two beautiful children, Suzie and David, knowing how much he will be missed and longed for. We weep with you and will not stop praying for our Lord to be to you all that His Word promises to be- "He cares for you" - "He loves you with an everlasting love." Russ & Lynn

Dear Mr.& Mrs. Street, cousin Ruth & children: May the love of our heavenly Creator bless you, keep you, guide you & help you, as you endure the heartache of your sudden & monumental loss. Sheldon will forever, live on; through the heart & souls of his beautiful children & all, whose life he touched. You are in our prayers; not only during this sorrowful time, but always. Parable of Immortality ~ by Henry Van Dyke - 1852 - 1933 I am standing by the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze & starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty & strength. I stand & watch until at last she hangs like a peck of white cloud just where the sun & sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, 'There she goes! Gone where? Gone from my sight - that is all. She is just as large in mast & hull & spar as she was when she left my side & just as able to bear her load of living freight to the places of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'There she goes!',there are other eyes watching her coming, & other voices take up a glad chorus & shout ; 'Look…..there…..Here she comes!'

Dear Ruth and Susan and David, Although I am not going to be able to be with you on Thursday, I will certainly be thinking about the three of you. I'm very sure you'll hear lots and lots of what you already know: Sheldon was one in a million: a very special guy, unusual in all sorts of good and highly valued ways --- and so deeply and widely loved and appreciated. He will be deeply missed by hundreds and hundreds of us. In the 38 years I have known him, I have been served by him and encouraged by him and cheered on by him many more times than I can count -- or even remember -- and I will always be thankful for the privilege I have had of being his brother-in-law.

Ruth ... Glenis and I need to let you know that we are thinking about you and the family during these difficult days. Both of you and in particular Sheldon played such a significant role in our lives and the ministry that God gave us. In fact much of what was accomplished was due to his generosity, wisdom and friendship as we made our way through the building of something new and fresh. Somehow Sheldon caught the vision and we did it together. There is absolutely no way that Glenis and I could ever thank you guys enough for the unselfish investment in every way both of you made in our lives. We love you.

To the entire Street family and to the staff at Humphrey Funeral Home. I was so saddened and heartbroken to hear of Sheldon's passing. Memories of his kind and gentle demeanor, his warm, pleasant smile, his willingness to be the first to say "can I help you with that" will always remain with me. Sheldon was a man who you could tell when you met him the very first time was sincere and was a genuinely good soul. Not only did he never miss an opportunity to ask how you were doing, he never forgot about the ones you loved and asked of their well being too. It was such an honor for me to have met Sheldon as a coworker and as a friend. He was a man's man, always speaking so highly of his family....a man worthy of being a role model and I will truly miss him.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of my dear friend Shelly. We were very close during our high school times in Don Mills as we struggled through our education at school, in our teenage years and later in our early adult lives. There were so many good times, happy times and sad times we shared, that the inevitable separation of time and distance never clouded my memories. We all become who we are through our associations with friends, family and loved ones and I would like to think I became a better person from having known and grown up with my friend. Dear Ruth, I wish you all the strength and peace that you need to you and your children at this hard time in your lives. Gordon and Deb and Mr. & Mrs. Street, my condolences and thoughts are with you for the loss of brother and son. Today I am sorely missing my friend but lovingly remembering him, as always, as the good man he was. Tears are temporary, but memories remain constant.

Dear Ruth, Susan and Dave It's been a difficult year our dear Ruth but also for the rest of you! You have been in our prayers, knowing very well how hard the road was. Sheldon left us too young, but he lived a life serving his Lord with love and dedication. We are so blessed to have known him. He will stay in our hearts until the day we join him, where there will be no more good-byes. Rest in the Lord and know that He will take care of your 'tomorrows'. We love you all, dearly.
