Obituary of Blanche Reid

REID, Blanche (nee Finch) Peacefully at home with a smile on her face, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 - just a few weeks after celebrating her 95th birthday surrounded by family. Born and raised in Sarnia where she met and married the love of her life, and husband for 65 years, the late Bill Reid. Cherished mother of Sandy Moore and her husband Peter, and Chris Dyer and her husband Tom. Much loved and admired grandmother of Rob Moore (Molly), Sara Moore (Michael), Casey Moore (Jason), Buffy Moore (Craig) and Bill Dyer (Erin). Much enjoyed "Grams" to great-grandchildren Otis, Henry, Grace, Sam, Addie and Bea. Predeceased by her dear older sister, Helen (Lewis). Everyone who knew Blanche was struck by her strength, grace and elegance. Those who were fortunate to know her well felt enriched by her gracious and generous nature. The family thanks the staff and residents at Christie Gardens, who brought such enjoyment to Blanche for the past seven years, and the caregivers from Smart Staffing who tended to her so thoughtfully and respectfully for the past year. A funeral service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Tuesday, March 4th at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception. If desired, donations to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Veterans Comfort Fund, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto M4N 3M5, or a charity of your choice, will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
