Obituary of Maria Lakas-Williams

LAKAS-WILLIAMS, Maria After a long 18 years of fighting cancer, Maria succumbed on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Excessively helpful, enthusiastic and trusting in every possible way throughout her life, the difference Maria made will be remembered fondly by all those whose life she touched. A native of Oshawa, born on July 28, 1951, the daughter of Nick and Koula Lakas, Maria is survived by her mother, brothers George and wife Cathy, Tasso, and Julia Paulino and husband John. Loved by many friends, nieces and nephews. Thanks to the medical staffs of Toronto East General K-wing and Sunnybrook Hospital. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 17. Service in the chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. If desired, donations to the Toronto East General Hospital Oncology Unit, would be appreciated. Interment Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
