Obituary of Herbert Phillips

PHILLIPS, Herbert FrederickPeacefully on April 9th, 2008 at St. Michael's Hospital in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Judith McErvel. Father of Sean (Connie), Jeff (Karen) and Joyce (Nick). Survived by grandchildren Michael, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Shannon, Adam, Chad, Jodi, Stephanie, Michael and great-grandson Evan. He will also be greatly missed by his nephew Peter (Tom). After joining the Royal Canadian Navy at 17, Bert served our country during WWII. He was a lover and collector of Canadian mystery fiction and had a passionate interest in the history of his hometown, Toronto. A longtime Cabbagetown resident, Bert will be fondly remembered by neighbours and by the many friends he made throughout his life. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, April 14th, 2008. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 at 11 o'clock.
