Sincere condolences to the Farley Family. It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of a beloved father and husband. Gene was an outstanding individual and the world is a better place for his having been here. I recall with pleasure our post-graduate year at the Avenue Road apartment. Gene made even the dishwashing chore a pleasure as he recited from memory Robert Service's poem "The Cremation of Sam McGee." His work for the UWO class of '56 was greatly appreciated and his input will be sorely missed. Deepest sympathy. Ron Hall

Dear Donnie and family It was nearly 60 years ago when our paths first crossed as members of the same fraternity at Western. He was then, and remained, the person you have described in the obituary - a man of unwavering integrity, fun loving, with a warm sense of humour, a gentle man with such a deep concern and respect for others. While our mildly divergent career paths meant only occasional encounters over the years, when we did meet it always felt like the connection was still so fresh. What a joy it was to meet you at the Wheelrights again last summer! We are thinking of you at this most difficult time. With love, Eleanor and Gary

I am a retired Deloitte partner from the Touch Ross side. I met Gene at the time of the merger with Touche. We both served on the Board of Directors for a period. Gene and I were both brought up in Toronto in more or less the same area and we discovered we had many friends and memories in common. We became good friends and during the difficult early days of the merger Gene was a constant source of good humour and common sense. I enjoyed working with him very much. I met your mother a couple of times. Once again, we found much in common in our backgrounds and friends. I do hope her recovery proceeds well. My condolences to all the family.

"Friendships & nicknames" that last thru life. My condolences to the Farley family. Gene was roll number 54 in the the UWO chapter of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. His nickname was "Feasley" or "Feas", an adolescent corruption of Farley. Later, he became the Class Co-ordinator (volunteer class secretary) for the HBA Class of 1956. Great guy - very classy & remembered fondly by all Betas of his generation.

Mrs. Farley and family: It was with great sadness that I read of Mr. Farley's passing. I had the privilege of being his PA from 1987 until his retirement from Deloitte & Touche. Our paths continued to cross over the years on rare occasions, the final one when he attended & spoke at my retirement party from Deloitte in 2008. During my stay in Toronto, Gene was incredibly friendly, supportive and helpful, and I have never forgotten this and also his ready smile and keen sense of humour. I remember that Gerry Knechtel was a good friend of Gene's, and he too was most helpful to my wife and me.
