Obituary of Mae Legge

LEGGE, Mae Maltby (nee Thompson) We rejoice in the long and well-lived life of Mae Maltby Thompson Legge. Mae will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her loyalty to her friends, her faithful service to the Volunteers of North York General Hospital (for 28 years) and Hillcrest Christian Church, and for her skills as an exceptional cook and homemaker. Mae will be dearly missed by Wally, her soul-mate and devoted husband of 62 years, (retired from Toronto Star), who bravely nursed her through a lengthy illness and granted her last wish to be at home in her beloved Leaside. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Mae Webb and Deborah Louise Yorke, her treasured son-in-law, Samuel Maurice Yorke, her beloved grandsons, Jordan and Tyler Webb, dear niece, Isobel (Guy) Charpentier, sister-in-law, Lee, close friends, Fran, Joe and Lila, and many Simpson and Thompson cousins in Northern Ireland. The family is forever grateful to her angel of mercy, Dr. Hanna Zuckerman, and her gentle caregivers, Vivienne and Cora. We trust Mae is now in the loving embrace of her dear parents, Jim and Isabella Thompson, and loving brother, Jack. She was a thoughtful friend, devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother who will always be remembered as a unique and talented individual. A celebration of her life led by her adored pastor, Rev. Dr. Jose Sotto, and Rev. Fred Dizon, will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 11 o'clock in HILLCREST CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 2 Vaughan Road, south of St. Clair. If desired, donations in Mae's memory may be made to her church. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
